This piece is supposed to be ironic and hopeful at the same time . It contains a dove and a skull...The dove as a symbol of hope from the Noah’s ark Bible story, the dove of peace but entombed in liquid in a tank like Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back locked in the carbonite block. A dove trapped in liquid maybe says ‘there is no hope’, maybe that’s the inescapable truth. But whatever the impossibility of its physical reality it looks hopeful I love it that this work says both. I think it was Andy Warhol who said that a good artwork can be both iconic and ironic . #hansolo #starwars #dove #skull #andywarhol #sculpture #formaldehyde
